FAQ's

How should I scan the original photo to send to you?

If you are sending the image to us on CD you sould scan it at 600 dpi (dots per inch) for 8"x10". Then save as JPEG, high quality setting, IBM PC Format and mail us the CD.
For smaller original prints you should scan at higher resolutions e.g. a 5"x3" print could be scanned at 1200 dpi. (Higher resoulutions give better definition for enlargements)
You can also send your image as a TIFF file instead of JPEG.

How do I get my photos onto my computer?

You must first scan your photos onto your computer disk using a scanner, or transfer pictures from your digital camera to your computer.

If you do not have the ability to scan the photo some libraries and copy centres have the facility to do this for you. Just tell them to scan it for 8"x10" at 600 dpi (dots per inch)  or higher and save it on a CD as a JPEG, High quality setting. In IBM PC Format.

Can I mail my photo to you on a disk?

Yes. Just scan your photo and put it on a CD and mail us the disk with your specific instructions. We will then restore or colorize it and mail back to you a finished print and the file on disk.

How can I safely mail my photo to you?

Preparing your original photo for mailing to us will depend on the condition of your photo. In most cases a photo can be protected from damage by placing it between two pieces of stiff card and placing it in a padded envelope. If you have a badly damaged photo that is in pieces, or very fragile and needing major restoration, we suggest that you place the photo (or the pieces of the photo) inside an envelope first and then place the envelope between two pieces of stiff card and tape the edges of the card together to hold the pieces securely inside (Please do not put tape or adhesive of any kind on any part of the photo). Place the photo that is surrounded by card into a padded envelope and mail it to us. We suggest you send your photograph via secure mail ( Registered.)

Will my original photograph be altered or damaged in any way?

No. We will scan the photograph and return it to you with the utmost care. You can always scan it yourself or have it scanned and send it to us on a CD if you don't want to send us your original photograph.
